科研活动长期从事寒武纪动物大辐射时期的生物、地层及环境背景等相关领域的研究。先后同德国柏林理工大学、瑞典Uppsala大学、瑞典自然历史博物馆、美国加州大学San Barbara分校、Virginia Tech大学、Hanover学院、俄罗斯科学院古生物研究所等单位的同行开展了广泛的国际合作研究。现为国际寒武系底界再划分、第二阶、第三阶三个工作组的委员,国际寒武系分会通讯委员,中国古生物学会科普工作委员会秘书长,江苏省古生物学会常务理事,古生物学会微古分会理事。
