研究领域主要从事地质灾害发生机理与预测预报方面的研究，目前正在开展西南大型串珠状古堰塞湖成因、边坡灾害全自动监测与预警、降雨与灌溉诱发滑坡的发生机理及地震滑坡等方面的研究。

教育背景

学历1990年7月毕业于西安地质学院水文地质工程地质系，获学士学位；
1993年7月在西安地质学院获水文地质工程地质专业硕士学位；
1997年8月在中国科学院地质研究所获博士学位。

工作经历1995年11月至1996年11月，香港大学土木与结构工程系研究助理；
1997年8月至1999年5月，中国科学院地理研究所从事博士后；
1999年6月至2001年6月，香港大学土木工程系附属研究员；
2001年6月至2002年2月，中国科学院地理科学与资源研究所工作；
2002年2月至2002年9月，香港大学土木工程系高级研究助理；
2002年10月至2005年10月，香港大学土木工程系研究助理教授，于2004年2月辞职；
2004年2月，中国科学院“百人计划”，中国科学院地质与地球物理研究所研究员、博士生导师
