黄海平教授博士生导导师,加拿大卡尔加里大学兼职教授,有机地球化学家。1962年9月生,汉族。1985年获江汉石油学院工学学士学位,1988年获中国地质大学(北京)工学硕士学位,2004年获英国纽卡斯尔大学博士学位,1998年-1999年英国阿伯丁大学访问科学家。

主要研究领域包括石油成藏地质过程,成藏期确定及不同成藏期次潜力评价;石油成藏后的次生变化,尤其是石油生物降解及重油和油砂形成机理及定量、原油分子组成和物理性质之间的内在联系,石油物性预测、重油油藏流体描述及流体非均质性在石油勘探和开发上的应用;非常规油气(页岩油气、致密油气及生物气)勘探及地质评价技术研究。目前还在致力于探索利用生物技术把废弃油藏、煤或泥岩中有机质转化为天然气从而获取再生能源并降低二氧化碳排放的可行性。已发表SCI论文80余篇,他引超过2000次。
