论文题目：How Does Health Insurance Expansion Affect Hospitals? Evidence from Rural China

论文摘要：Using the largest expansion of health insurance expansion program in Rural China, we examine the impacts on incomes and expenditures of hospitals in China. Consistent with the moral hazard literature, we find that the new rural cooperation health insurance scheme (NRCHIS) remarkably increases the hospital income, which is mainly contributed by the increased volume of hospital inpatient care visits rather than price per visit or out-patient care visits. Meanwhile, the hospitals spend more on medical consumables, paid more to the doctors, and invested more in costly large equipment. In contrast, we do not find significant evidence on the number of doctors. The findings contribute to the growing literature about the impact of health insurance on the health supply side.

报告人简介：黄炜，新加坡国立大学校长特聘助理教授，美国国家经济研究局（NBER）博士后研究员。2016年获得哈佛大学经济学博士学位，2011年获得北京大学国家发展学院经济学硕士学位。他的研究领域是公共经济学，劳动经济学和卫生经济学。他的研究成果已发表在Review of Economic and Statistics, Journal of Labor Economics, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Nature, Journal of Economic Perspectives等国际期刊。2018年起，他担任Economics of Transition的联合主编。
