在天然高分子基医用材料领域开展研究，研究方向有多功能止血/抗菌材料，体内止血纳米材料，多糖基基因/药物递送载体等。在Accounts of Chemical Research, Biomaterials，Small, Journal of Controlled Release等国际期刊上发表20余篇英文SCI论文，其中第一/通讯作者12篇；申请国家发明专利10项；主持、参与纵向课题5项。
