Abstract:
In this talk, we will define the BCOV invariant for Calabi-Yau manifolds. We will also extend the definition to such pairs (X,D), where X is a compact Kaehler manifold and D is a canonical divisor on X with simple normal crossing support. Using the extended BCOV invariant and a factorization theorem from birational geometry, we show that the BCOV invariant (for Calabi-Yau manifolds) is a birational invariant. If time permits, we will also interpret the extended BCOV invariant in terms of the motivic integration. The result presented in this talk is a joint work with Lie Fu.
