1987年7月至1991年3月在合肥工业大学任助教。1993年7月至2001年8月，曾先后在澳大利亚的詹姆士-库克(James Cook)大学任讲师，(澳) 莫那什(Monash)大学任高级讲师，美国的科州矿业学院(Colorado School of Mines)任副教授。 2001年9月至今，在美国佛蒙特(Vermont)州的佛蒙特大学计算机科学系任正教授，并于2001年9月～2010年6月(连续9年）担任该系的系主任。
2006年被教育部接受为****讲座教授。2009年获国家自然科学基金海外杰出青年基金（海外杰青）资助。2010年入选国家****。2011年当选IEEE Fellow。 | | 研究方向 | | - 数据挖掘(Data Mining)
